When Your Faith Is Bigger Than What You Are Facing

As a Military family, you get new orders every 3-4 years. You have this window period where you look at what is available and you have the choice to choose and hopefully get what you selected, or you wait until the following month for new billets to come out.

This is a stressful time for most Military families. However, This time was very hard on our family. We just bought our home and we have a Senior and Jr in high school. It would just be difficult all the around to have to pick up and move.

We have been very blessed to stay in one location for 17yrs. Even though we are a Military family, our children don't know what it is to constantly move around.

This time, it wasn't looking good at all. We didn't have many options and there were no open billets in our area. So we decided to wait until the following month. Next month came around and there was one billet in our area. However, that command was deploying and our daughter's graduation is next year. My husband would have to miss her graduation if we chose those orders.

At this point, we were told there was no billets in our area and people were taking what they could to stay local. Our family had to make a hard decision. We discussed all our options. We stay here and my husband miss graduation, or we stay together and move to another state. There were so many tears and we felt helpless.

I knew at this point, all we could do was pray. I remember wanting to pray "God, you know we just bought a house, and the kids will be graduating soon. It would break our family's heart if my husband missed graduation.

Instead...

I prayed "God, you know our situation. I pray your will over our family. It was one of the hardest prayers I ever prayed, but I had this peace and knew no matter what happened.... We would be just fine!

Time went on, and the stress grew for some of us. I seen our daughter cry a lot during this time. My heart ached for her and I just wanted to take the pain away. We all know.. it doesn't work that way!

One afternoon, my husband came home and said the only orders in our area were taken and there probably wasn't going to be any more orders in the area before we have to choose.

God, wasn't saying much... so we just waited another month.....

My husband came home from work after the time had passed, and said "I don't want you to get to excited but there is a billet here in our area that just opened up and they aren't deploying anytime soon." I couldn't help but be excited!!

He applied for the billet and Praise God we got it!

The best part is, my husband won't deploy anymore before he retires. he will be there for both graduations. Those were 4 long months of waiting. But.. you see, God is FAITHFUL and BLESSES those who wait on him.

There is something about Surrendering it all to him.... Thank you Jesus

This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls. It leads us through the curtain into God's inner sanctuary.

  1. I really needed to read this! What a good testimony of what it looks like to surrender and wait on God - to see how things turn out. Thank you very much for this. God used it to speak to me, and give me His peace about a matter.

  2. I'm SO relieved your husband was able to stay in town for your daughter's graduation! PRAISE GOD for for answered prayer! Oh the waiting- yes, it can be so hard to trust God's got our lives in His Plan at ALL TIMES. Your fervent faith is a testimony for us all. <3

  3. Scripture comes to mind Is. 7:9 If you do not stand firm in your faith, then you will not stand at all. It reminds me to stand firm at all times, in hard and easy seasons, in prayer requests that seem too big for an answer. This is what keeps me going. Blessings!
