You are already enough
I think as women we somehow feel like we never quite measure up. We have so many roles as a wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend and the list goes on and on. This is something I struggled with in my own life. I have searched to fill that void by over committing myself by saying yes to everyone and everything that came my way. I set these high expectations for my self as a wife and mother, that I will never be able to attain.
It has left me exhausted spiritually, emotionally, and physically. Not only was I suffering, but family was also. My family and friends thought I was super woman, but didn't know what was behind it all. The truth is I really didn't know why I felt this way. No matter what I did, I still felt empty at the end of the day.
I remember speaking to my husband about being so tired and moody all the time. It made me feel awful as a person. I wanted to be everything to everyone, filled, and happy!. That day, my husband looked at me and said " Babe, you bring this on yourself ". I'm not sure why you set these unrealistic expectations for yourself. What are you trying to accomplish? It hurt, but it was the truth and exactly what I needed to hear.
I had to make the choice to start ignoring the lies of the enemy and start believing in how Jesus sees me...
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which god created beforehand, and we should walk in them. - Ephesians 2:10
Yet to all who have received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave them the right to be children of God. I am a child of God and I belong to him. - John 1:2
It hasn't been easy. There are many days I still struggle with not feeling good enough. That is when I'm reminded of God's love for me. He created me and for that reason I am perfect in his eyes. We will fall short at times, but God's grace covers all of us and sets us free.
Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.- 2 Corinthians 1:2
Sweet sisters, you are enough! I encourage to keep your eyes on Jesus. He is the only one who can truly provide you with happiness and fulfillment. Press into him not only on your hard days, but each and everyday.

Great reminder! Many times we bring it on ourselves and many times it is other people telling us we're not good enough. Either way, we have to remind ourselves of who God says we are and to make sure we measure up to His standards, accomplishing that with His strength! :)
ReplyDeleteAmen! It took me awhile to learn this, but God is teaching me daily to keep my eyes focused on him.

Megs
Thank you Meg! I'm so glad this post blessed you.. Have a great weekend.
DeleteIt's so hard, isn't it? I set high expectations too, and often remember the scripture "God grants sleep to those he love." He doesn't expect me to do more than he created me to do.
ReplyDeleteWise words, true words... we all do it and we all bring the weight and burdens upon our hearts that we are not supposed to carry close. Sometimes we even teach our daughters to do it. But God... He meets us with grace and leads us out into peace. Sometimes it is with words that our husbands speak and other times it is something else...all grace. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for reminding us to spend time rooted in His Word.
Blessings,
Dawn
