Are you respecting your husband?

Did you know that a man's greatest need in a marriage is respect? Your love and affection isn't enough. Your husband is longing to be affirmed by you. Wives are called to respect their husbands (Ephesians 5:33). Respect isn't just shown through our words, but our actions. It is what flows out of our hearts. Here are some ways you can truly respect your husband:

1. Submittingly-  As wives, we need to be willing to let our husbands lead us and our family. When we submit to our husbands, we are actually submitting to God. For wives, this means submit to your husband as to the Lord. - Ephesians 5:22

2. Pray- It is so important to fight for your husband daily in prayer. If you don't, who will? The enemy wants to destroy your husband. As wives, we need to be praying for the man God has given us. Pray for him everyday from head to toe! Pray without Ceasing. - 1 Thessalonians 5:17

3.  Verbally- Choose your words wisely when speaking to your husband. You should be using kind loving words to build your man up, even if you don't feel like it at times.Trust me, we have all been there. Do it anyway! Don't let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. - Ephesians 4:29

4. Prioritize- As wives, we have a lot on our plate. It is easy to focus on so many other things that need our attention.Your husband needs to know he matters. Connect with him throughout the day. Make sure you are spending quality time together. A simple kiss goes a long way! Time with our husbands creates a oneness.Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three stands is not quickly broken. - Ecclesiastes 4:12

5. Physically- Your husband needs you to desire him sexually. A man's sexuality is the core of his manhood. As wives, we need to meet our husbands sexual needs, otherwise he will face temptation. God created sex as a oneness in marriage. Make sure you are connecting with your husband in this way. Do not deprive each other  except perhaps by mutual consent and for a time, so that you may devote yourselves to prayer. Then come together again so that Satan will not tempt you because of your lack of self control. -1 Corinthians 7:5

I hope this encourages you in your marriage. Make the choice to honor your husband daily. No matter where you may be in your marriage, God wants you to respect your husband. By doing so, you will start to see God working in and though your husband. Your marriage will truly be changed forever. God bless you!
